The focus of this work is the text from Matthew 5:16, part of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus is teaching the crowds; they just heard the beautitudes and this section tells about being salt and light.

The rays in the design are other verses pertaining to light. Drama and contrast are achieved by working on black with lots of white pigment in the color.

My fascination with the power of ‘thoughts made visible’ and the mystery of the word as a vehicle of communication has led me on a wonderful journey as I merge message and technique with watercolor, brush and pen into a finished piece. Each piece brings exploration, inspiration and discovery — on a concrete level as I work with my tools and experience; on a spiritual level as a passionate heart treasures God. My response to life’s journey is to work with words, be inspired by great texts, express the abstract more tangibly and ... listen ... for God's still, small, gentle voice within the cacophony of the ups and downs, joys and sorrows experienced. In this relationship God comes transforming, with hope-full and wonderful surprises!
