This ancient liturgical prayer is from the Odes of Solomon, 2nd century. David Haas set it to music. Rob Strusinski, retired director of the Liturgical Choir at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Mn. used this as the choir theme song. The tradition continues with their new director, Aaron Brown, using this as the choir prayer for inspiration.
This is a beautiful opening to worship, petitioning for a deeper walk of truth and praise and recognizing God as the answer to all our needs.
My fascination with the power of ‘thoughts made visible’ and the mystery of the word as a vehicle of communication has led me on a wonderful journey as I merge message and technique with watercolor, brush and pen into a finished piece. Each piece brings exploration, inspiration and discovery — on a concrete level as I work with my tools and experience; on a spiritual level as a passionate heart treasures God. My response to life’s journey is to work with words, be inspired by great texts, express the abstract more tangibly and ... listen ... for God's still, small, gentle voice within the cacophony of the ups and downs, joys and sorrows experienced. In this relationship God comes transforming, with hope-full and wonderful surprises!
