Title: St Francis Peace Prayer
Media: watercolor on Frankfurt
Size of Original: 8.5 x 11 inches
St. Francis (1182-1226), born in Assisi, Italy was a mystic and a preacher. I am inspired by the great believers of history like St. Francis. He appears to have received little formal education, even though his father was a wealthy merchant. As a young man, he led a wordly life. In his early twenties he was severely ill; upon his recovery he resolved to alter his ways and pursue God.
His change of character and expenditures for charity angered his father, who legally disinherited him. He devoted his life to doing good, established the Franciscan order and was proclaimed patron saint of ecologists by Pope John Paul II in 1980.
His persevering and passionate faith earnestly seeking God is expressed in this prayer.
This is printed on cream Frankfurt paper, an acid-free laid sheet from Germany, with wavy lines and 4 deckle edges. The surface is quite soft and ink receptive, ideal for fine printing.
