Text: Luke 1:46-55
Magnificat, the name given to the hymn of Mary in Luke 1:46-55. It starts with "My soul doth magnify the Lord." Mary turns her thoughts here to Christ himself, who was to be born of her, as the angel had told her; he would be the Son of the Highest, whose name would be Jesus, the Savior. She rejoiced in being his mother, but, more than that, she rejoiced in him as her Savior. We, too, can rejoice in Jesus, our Savior.
Some thoughts about my interpretation of the text and Mary: PLAIN- a simple design;
HOMESPUN and a carpenter's wife and mother - a wood stick dipped in walnut ink was used for the block letters; GRACE - the graceful Italic is used for the whole text;
HUMBLE - earthy, plain, natural walnut ink.
